PROGRAM D-5915
Happy New Year! On this first day of 2010, I truly pray for you a year filled with God’s peace, the assurance of his love for you, and the sure knowledge that he is with you always.
Most of you have the day off, I’m sure, and you may be spending time with friends and family, enjoying good food and fellowship, maybe watching some football or something like that. I treasure times like that, when you can just enjoy life and all the good things God has provided.
But I’m well aware that many of you face this New Year with worries and challenges, perhaps even heartaches and troubles. Maybe you’re in job-hunting mode, and it’s not looking very promising. Or it could be a broken or troubling relationship that has you concerned. But whether it’s a health issue, a heart issue, or whatever it is, God is able to meet your needs and give you a good year, a year full of his grace.
I’ve been talking about starting the year off right, and I’d like to start this broadcasting year off right by simply sharing encouragement and hope for you right from God’s Word. It is far more powerful than my words, so listen to what God says to you today:
Isaiah 43:16, 18–19: This is what the LORD says—he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
